From Dreaming to Achieving - My Nihongo Journey with JLRC
Student at UNITAS Tokyo
English Teacher
My love for Japan has always been there since I was little. My deep interest in it made me want to study the Japanese language. However, self-studying wasn’t enough, as I didn’t have enough resources and lacked motivation to continue doing so. “Who cares? It’s just a language”, I thought… “I can still go to Japan and use translator apps to help me when I visit Japan.” Boy, was I wrong.
In March 2023, I was given the opportunity to visit Japan for two weeks. I almost cried on my first night because of the language barrier… But what’s nice about my stay is that the cherry blossoms bloomed earlier than usual! Man, how fortunate I was! The first thing that came out of my mind after a few days of staying there was, “Should I move here?” Everything was just perfect for me—the scenery, the atmosphere, the transportation, the food… Unfortunately, that two-week stay came by so quickly. What’s funny is that I felt homesick once I got back home in the Philippines, as if Japan were my home country. And so, I decided to look for some ways to stay in Japan long-term. I started looking for the best Japanese language schools in Japan, and fortunately, I came across JLRC.
JLRC offers “Study in Japan” and “Study Nihongo” programs. As my “Study in Japan” program was in the process, I was enrolled in the N5 level course at JLRC as well. Everything was extremely affordable compared to other Japanese language schools, and the duration of study was not too long. Unlike the other materials I used to self-study Japanese, JLRC’s own Nihongo material is simple and easy to understand. What’s even better is that JLRC offers intensive learning, which will help you master the level in a short period of time! JLRC also holds mock exams to prepare for the JLPT for those who are planning to take it.
Special thanks to my Jasmine-sensei, who teaches us not only about the language itself but also the culture in Japan (which is essential for those who want to live in Japan). There was indeed never a dull moment during our class. I would also like to extend my deepest gratitude to Yuzuru-san, a very great specialist, who patiently answered my inquiries and helped me throughout the student visa acquiring process. The application process can be tedious and nerve-racking, but shake your worries away because JLRC will take care of you. Hands down to JLRC for that!
I’m now finally here in Japan as part of the October 2023 batch, and I will soon start studying Japanese at a language school in one of the hustle and bustles of Japan—Tokyo! Going to Japan has always been at the top of my bucket list, but JLRC gave me more than that. Without JLRC’s help, I wouldn’t be able to reach my number one dream in life. 2023 is indeed the best year for me, and I can’t wait to see what my life is going to be like here!
So, to all the students out there who want to learn a new language or for those who want to try something new, don’t hesitate to step out of your comfort zone. Who knows? You might be in Japan next year, too! Study Japanese with JLRC and its partner schools. You’ll never regret it!
Again, thank you so much for helping me throughout my journey! どうもありがとうございます!
