At first, I just wanted to learn something new, never imagined that I would fall in love with the Japanese language itself.

I started learning Japanese in January 2023. During that time, I wanted to learn a new skill, something not-finance-related, and it will be valuable to do during my free time. Since I’m supporting the Japanese market in my current work, I decided to learn the language even though it is not required by the company.
Good thing that I listened to my workmate who recommended JLRC as a Japanese language school and enrolled for N5 online class. As someone who has no background with the language, I love how JLRC’s modules are organized, not intimidating and beginner friendly. The sensei is approachable, all topics are well-explained and there are exercises to check if each lesson is fully understood. I also love that they offer online weekend classes to cater Nihongo learners like me who are working full time during the weekdays while not sacrificing the time I spend with my family.
I learned that I could take JLPT to evaluate and certify my Japanese proficiency and decided to take the N5 exam in July of the same year. I just focused on the materials provided by JLRC so that I won’t get too overwhelmed given that there are lots of available resources online. I passed the N5 and decided to continue my Japanese language journey with JLRC and enrolled in N4 in Sept. During my N4 class, I contemplated if I should take JLPT N4 in December given that I only have 3 months to prepare for the exam. But I registered when the registration opened just to close the “what if” in my mind. During those 3 months of attending my N4 class, I learned a lot from my sensei, and I did some advance studying for the lessons that will not be covered before the exam. Luckily, I passed the N4 as well. I am now planning to continue my N3 journey with JLRC knowing that I’ll be in good hands.
At first, I just wanted to learn something new, never imagined that I would fall in love with the Japanese language itself. Thank you JLRC! And to anyone who is planning to learn Nihongo – good luck and just keep on learning.
