Course Description
Nihongo Class N1 (165 hours)
Overview
N1 is the highest and most advanced level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT). This 165-hour intensive program focuses on mastering high-level grammar structures, specialized and abstract vocabulary, and complex Kanji that appear in academic, professional, and literary contexts. Learners will develop the ability to comprehend highly technical documents, editorials, specialized essays, and implicit meanings that require deep cultural and linguistic sensitivity.
By the end of the course, participants will gain the linguistic sophistication needed to operate confidently in professional environments, research settings, and high-level interpersonal communication within Japanese society.
Course Content
The curriculum covers advanced N1 materials, including:
- N1 Vocabulary Mastery — idiomatic expressions, abstract terms, specialized lexicon, and nuanced onomatopoeia.
- Advanced N1 Grammar — subtle grammatical contrasts, formal written expressions, and complex sentence.
- Reading Comprehension — editorials, academic essays, opinion pieces, literature excerpts, and real-world high-level documents.
- Listening Training — rapid, implicit, contextual listening tasks simulating business meetings and academic discussions,
- Comprehensive N1 Kanji Workbook — advanced Kanji, rare readings, and deep interpretation exercises.
- Full Mock Examinations — simulations that mirror the linguistic precision and interpretive depth required at N1 level.
Participants will not only become fluent readers and speakers, but will also develop analytical, interpretive, and culturally attuned communication skills essential for functioning at the highest level of Japanese proficiency.
